The company was founded in 1913 by Max Maag and developed to be a leading manufacturer of gearboxes with international reputation.

Max Maag set the benchmark with his inventions and innovations which still to this day are hard to improve on.

Gearboxes are mounted between main engine and principal drive. The gearbox is designed to fulfil the customer specification in an optimal way with regard to speed, power and other parameters. It is understood that safety aspects are an integral part of the gear design.

During the last 90 years MAAG delivered more than 7’000 Turbo gears to its worldwide customers. Many of these machines are still in use.

RENK-MAAG GmbH was incorporated on 2^nd May 2007.

RENK-MAAG GmbH took over all business activities from MAAG Gear AG regarding MAAG-Turbo gearboxes and spare parts for MAAG-Marine gearboxes, as well as for MAAG-Synchronous Clutch, Shift- and Toothed-Couplings.

Moreover, the service activities of all units delivered to these sectors as well as a significant part of the production capacity were taken over.
