07.12.2010 Doors open for the next generation on "National Futures Day"
On 11 November 2010, girls and boys in years 5 – 7 within the Swiss school system were given the opportunity to accompany their mother, father or another guardian to work. This scheme enabled the students to gain an insight into the diversity of the world of work. Hopefully, it will have opened up to them new horizons and perspectives concerning their choice of career and direction in life. In the course of the day, the youngsters were offered interesting incentives and were perhaps even given the necessary self-confidence to have a say in their own future or even to take control of it for themselves. Early exposure to the life planning issues and the choice of career that lie ahead is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the dual education system which involves parallel training at work and at a vocational training school.
RENK-MAAG has been supporting this traditional model for many years, which is why it decided to open up its doors once again to girls and boys interested in its work. The students were exempt from lessons for the full day so that they could participate in this joint project between schools, the world of work and parents.
There was a great deal of interest right across Switzerland with over half a million girls and boys and hundreds of well-known companies taking part. As a result, “National Futures Day” proved a huge success and has, like the children it aims to help, a very bright future ahead of it.
